Superior Propane Unveils New Training Centre in Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay, Ontario, October 9, 2009 – Superior Propane today unveiled its new training centre that was part of a recent renovation and expansion project at its East Arthur Street location.

Superior Propane first expanded their presence in Thunder Bay in 2007, when they consolidated their Western and Atlantic call centres. After considering several locations, Superior selected Thunder Bay because it made sense from an operating economics point of view; the city is accessible, has a stable, high quality labour pool and offers a great quality of life for employees.

This most recent expansion, at 1265 E Arthur Street, was completed on Sept.7, 2009 and includes a new training centre as well as some additional space that will be used for administration purposes. "The new training centre provides us with a dedicated space to welcome, orientate and train new employees and further develop the skills of existing employees through on-going training and development programs," says John Gleason, President of Superior Propane. "We are very grateful for the support the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) has provided; their assistance has helped ensure the creation of our training centre."

Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) CEO Steve Demmings said the CEDC was pleased to help in this expansion project. "It is our objective to support businesses like Superior Propane in realizing projects that promote the overall economic development of our city. When local businesses succeed, we all benefit. "

Superior Propane is Canada's largest and only national provider of propane and related services, which it provides to over 200,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in over 180 communities. Superior Propane employs over 1,600 employees and delivers over 1.4 billion litres of propane annually. Superior Propane is a Canadian company that has been in business since 1951. It is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta and is a division of Superior Plus Corp.
