This document is the by-law by which Port Arthur entered into the Thunder Bay District Mutual Aid System, allowing the Fire Department to assist and receive assistance for any fires in the surrounding area.

"City of Port Arthur

By-law Number 5312 Being a by-law to provide for the participation of the City of Port Arthur Fire Department in District Aid.

WHEREAS The Municipal Act authorizes the councils of all municipalities to enter into agreements with other municipalities for the use of firefighting equipment or any of it:

NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

  1. That the City of Port Arthur Fire Department be authorized to leave the limits of the municipality or fire area, at the discretion of the Chief and under the direction of the Thunder Bay District Fire Co-ordinator, to respond to calls for assistance from other municipal fire departments authorized to participate in the Thunder Bay District Mutual Aid System or any other District Mutual Aid System on a reciprocal aid basis.
  2. In case the provisions of this by-law conflict with the provisions of any other by-law, the provisions of this by-law shall prevail.
  3. This by-law shall come into force and take effect on the final passing thereof.

Enacted and passed this 25th day of October A.D., 1965.
