Accounting & Budgets Division

The Accounting & Budgets Division is responsible for the payment of goods and services to City suppliers and contractors, banking, accounting and financial functions for the City of Thunder Bay.

Highlights:

  • Current and Past Financial Statements and Reports
  • Co-ordination and preparation of the Corporation's Capital and Operating Budgets
  • Status reporting/variance control
  • Banking for the general and all reserve and trust fund accounts
  • Accounting for Municipal Departments and Enterprise
  • Investment of short-term funds
  • Input and maintenance of Financial Information Systems
  • Debt analysis, studies and record keeping
  • Subsidy applications for various federal and provincial grant programs
  • Ontario Home Renewal Program - accounting and administration
  • Accounts payable cheque processing
  • Goods and Service Tax and Provincial Sales Tax processing
  • Report on remuneration of expenses paid to members of City Council and Council appointees to local boards and other bodies
  • Employee Suggestion Program
