Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program

ODRAP Brochure coverThe City of Thunder Bay and surrounding areas of Oliver Paipoonge and Conmee have been declared a disaster area, and qualify for the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP)

The program is intended to ease the hardship suffered by private homeowners, farmers, small business enterprises and non-profit organizations whose essential property has been damaged as a result of the flood on May 28.

ODRAP provides funds to those who have sustained heavy losses for essential items such as shelter and the "necessities of life." ODRAP does not provide full cost recovery for all damages resulting from a disaster: it helps eligible recipients restore essential furnishings and property only to pre-disaster condition.

Emergency situations can happen at any time. We all have roles and responsibilities in preparing for, responding to and managing emergencies. Ontario requires all municipalities and provincial ministries, including the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, to identify risks and put in place emergency management programs and response plans.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing administers ODRAP. The program provides emergency financial assistance to municipalities, individuals, small businesses, farmers and non-profit organizations.
