February 27, 2009 – The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce the release of the 2008 Drinking Water Quality Annual Report to consumers. The report confirms the delivery of high quality drinking water and contains information about the City of Thunder Bay water treatment and distribution system.
Under the provisions of Ontario Regulation 170/03 all municipalities must ensure that a report is prepared and submitted to the Ministry of the Environment for each calendar year. The regulations set out mandatory treatment requirements for facilities using surface water as a source. Water samples are taken and evaluated for all parameters that can impact water quality. Your water quality is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“We take the delivery of high-quality, safe drinking water very seriously,” said Kerri Marshall, Manager, Environment Division. “This year’s report has been re-designed with our customers in mind. We want to make information about our water more accessible and relevant for everyone. The report includes information about the treatment process, distribution system, source water protection and wise water use.”
The Drinking Water Quality 2008 Annual Report is available online at www.thunderbay.ca/water. Printed copies are available at the office of the City Clerk’s in VictoriaVille, all branches of Thunder Bay Public Libraries, the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant or the Front Street Service Yard, 155 Front Street.
