Changes to Tipping Fees at Landfill Site

June 29, 2009 – Effective July 2, tipping fees at the City of Thunder Bay Solid Waste and Recycling Facility will increase by 6% for loads weighing more than 151 kilograms. The rate will increase to $ 44.65 from $42.12 per tonne.  The gate fee for residents disposing of loads weighing less than 151 kilograms will remain at the flat rate of $5. 

This fee increase is necessary to support the long-range plan of the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility. The increase will also ensure the sustainability of the Landfill Site’s operations, recycling programs and future expansion.
