December 23, 2009 – Reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill this year by chipping your tree instead of throwing it out. After the holiday season is over, residents are asked to recycle natural Christmas trees at one of Thunder Bay’s 10 Christmas tree chipping sites. The wood chips will turn to compost that can be used to beautify Thunder Bay gardens in the spring.

South drop-off locations:
Please remove all ornaments and tinsel from the tree before bringing it to the chipping site. If you use a plastic tree bag to transport your tree, take it away with you. Do not leave trees at the recycling depots or put them out at the curb for collection.
Drop-off sites will be open from Dec. 26 until Jan. 9. There is no charge for tree chipping.
