City Hosts Mayors for Meals Day March 24

March 17, 2010 – City of Thunder Bay Meals on Wheels announced today that Thunder Bay Acting Mayor Larry Hebert will be participating in Mayors for Meals Day to demonstrate support for our community’s seniors. 

Mayors for Meals Day is a North American campaign organized by Meals on Wheels agencies to involve local Mayors in raising awareness of senior nutrition concerns and the need for local action.  In 2009, 86 Ontario mayors participated; this year, 300 mayors Canada-wide are expected to help deliver Meals on Wheels.

“We are excited about having Councillor Hebert participate in this event”, said Elizabeth Pim, Acting Supervisor of Thunder Bay Meals on Wheels. “Councillor Hebert will accompany some of our volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels from Dawson Court. We hope to raise awareness of the value this service provides to clients in our community.”

The Ontario Community Support Association represents the needs and issues of Meals on Wheels providers like City of Thunder Bay Meals on Wheels and holds the licensing rights for Meals on Wheels in Canada.
