EarthCare Thunder Bay Presents Strong Block
Date: September 14, 2017
Time: 8:41 AM

September 14, 2017 – EarthCare Thunder Bay is presenting Strong Block, a free public event in support of United Way Thunder Bay. The event is taking place on Saturday, Sept. 16, from noon – 3 pm on Simpson Street, from Rowand Street to Robertson Street.

All are welcome to come and enjoy the rapid transformation of this block. The space will be filled with pop-ups and will showcase the value of population density from an environmental and a community perspective. A Strong Block aims to increase value for people in their neighbourhoods, temporarily intensify growth, and continue to build awareness about sustainable strong communities. The Strong Block event builds upon the existing features of a community to showcase the full potential of this animated liveable community.

The Strong Block event is in partnership with Open Streets and therefore the street will be closed to vehicular traffic. All are welcome to enjoy walking, running, biking or rolling along the street. Citizens can come experience the benefits of having a vibrant, high amenity street built for people.

“A lot of people in Thunder Bay care very much about the environment, climate change, and creating a better future. EarthCare events always attract much-needed support and attention to local efforts to make our City more sustainable and livable,” said Rena Viehbeck, Acting Sustainability Coordinator. “This event would not be possible without the support of the many partners including Our Kids Count and Evergreen United Neighbourhood, to name a few.”

The event will feature many pop-ups including; food, music, yoga, children’s activities, market vendors, information booths, and a 50/50 draw in support of United Way Thunder Bay.

Plan to come and experience this animated community gathering space and lively economic corridor. The kind of space you want to live in, work in, and would love to visit, and a community to be proud of!
