Boulevard Lake is scheduled to be drained this September to facilitate the inspection of the Boulevard Dam. This project may be done earlier if Thunder Bay does not receive significant rainfall in the next week.
"Boulevard Lake is normally drained in the fall, not the summer," says Dwight Gessie, Manager – Parks Division. "We've enjoyed warm weather in recent weeks but very little rain. This lack of rain is the reason for the low water levels we're seeing at Boulevard Lake."
Boulevard Lake's Main Beach is currently under a swimming advisory from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit because water quality test results have shown higher than acceptable E. coli bacteria levels.
