February 11, 2009 – The Parks Division and the Recreation & Culture Division are pleased to offer activities for the whole family to enjoy on the ‘Family Day’ Holiday Monday, Feb. 16.
“Family Day is a great time for families to enjoy the superb recreational opportunities offered in our community,” said Dwight Gessie, Manager – Parks Division. “Get out, be active and have some fun!”
Supervised outdoor rink sites will be open from 1 pm – 9 pm (weather-permitting) at:
Brent Park James Street Carrick
Wayland Current River West Thunder
Oliver Road Chapples North End
Charry Park Volunteer Pool Tarbutt
West End
A Public/Family Recreational Swim will be held at the Canada Games Complex from 12 pm – 5 pm. Free use of the Thunderslide will be included with the price of regular admission. Also, Public/Family Recreational Swims will be held at Sir Winston Churchill Community Pool and Volunteer Pool from 1 pm – 4 pm.
North McIntyre Recreation Centre, located at 2051 Government Road, is hosting their ‘Family Fun Day’ from 9 am – 9 pm. Activities include a Pancake Breakfast, all day skating, skating skills competition, broomball, snow sculptures, snowshoeing, bingo, karaoke, crafts, games, face painting, shuffleboard, darts, board games tables and more.
