April 12, 2010 – As of today, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue’s Neebing Fire Crew is moving back to James Street Fire Station for a short while from its temporary station at the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Fire Service Centre.
Fire personnel, along with equipment and truck, will soon resume operations at the Neebing Station on 20th Sideroad once a mobile bunk house is set-up on site for staff living quarters while work to complete mould remediation continues.
“We are very grateful to the MNR Fire Service for allowing us to operate temporarily out of their building while the Neebing Station is remediated,” said Deputy Fire Chief Greg Hankkio. “This strategic location has allowed us to provide consistent service and response times as usual within the service area.
“We have a tremendous working relationship with the MNR Fire Service and they have been fantastic hosts. As we re-locate temporarily back to the James Street Station, we will continue to closely monitor response times and respond to emergencies with the same level of resources as per our usual deployment plan.”
The Neebing Fire Station was closed Feb. 10 for health and safety reasons after mould was confirmed by a Microbiological Analysis.
