South Core Parking Study Public Meeting

August 13, 2009 – The City of Thunder Bay will be holding a public meeting to allow citizens to ask questions and provide additional input into developing the new parking strategy for the South Core area due to the construction of a new courthouse and the relocation of the Brodie Street bus terminal.

A Transit and Parking Study is being conducted by the City and ENTRA Consultants, based on the agreement between the Province and the City to acquire the Brodie Street bus terminal site and adjacent parking lots for the new courthouse.

The purpose of the study is to:

  • Examine a variety of South Core locations to identify feasible sites for the relocated transit facility
  • Identify costs and service implications of moving to that site
  • Identify parking requirements for both new developments and find potential solutions for parking, in concert with terminal location
  • Provide an opportunity to optimize locations for parking
  • Address ongoing resident concerns and desires for the quality of City services and facilities

Community residents, businesses, ratepayers associations, and other interested parties are encouraged to attend the meetings to share input on creating the new parking management strategy.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 20 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at St. Andrews Church on 207 South Brodie Street. Contact the Thunder Bay Parking Authority at 625-2370 to indicate your attendance.

Everyone is welcome to attend, but for those that cannot you can forward your views by fax or email to ENTRA Consultants at 905-946-8966 or by email to ss@ENTRAconsultants.com.
