Feburary 13, 2018 – The City of Thunder Bay is inviting everyone to experience the best of winter at SnowDay on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation. The event occurs on Family Day, Monday, Feb. 19, from noon-5 pm at Marina Park.

“SnowDay on the Waterfront has a variety of winter art and recreation activities that are free for everyone to enjoy,” said Ash Young, Cultural Development & Events Supervisor. “The snow sculptures are at the heart of SnowDay. This year, we’re pleased to have nine teams carving all weekend in the Festival Area. Each team brings a unique vision of this year’s theme, Pop Culture. Be sure to come down and vote for your favourite for the People’s Choice Award.”

Highlights of the SnowDay on the Waterfront’s program include:

- Snow carving with Willow Springs Creative Centre
- Birds of the Bay Community Art Installations
- Winter science with Science North
- Ice Fishing with Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters
- Snow Much Fun with the Children & Youth Section
- Face painting by Our Kids Count
- Snowshoeing with Chaltrek
- Waterfront Yarn Bomb project
- Sensory Mindfulness Scavenger Hunt with Roots to Branches Forest School
- Pottery and Quilting Demonstrations in the Baggage Building Arts Centre
- Kicksledding and other winter activities

Food and beverages will be available onsite, including a Chili Cook-Off by the Regional Food Distribution Association that will feature chili from local restaurants. Be sure to taste and cast your vote for Thunder Bay’s Favourite Chili.
