Transit Cash Fares to Increase

April 21, 2009 – Cash fares on Thunder Bay Transit will increase on Friday, May 1, 2009, to $2.50 from $2.35.

The increases in cash fares were approved in the City of Thunder Bay’s 2009 Operating Budget. All passes and tickets will remain at their present rate.

The objective of the fare increase is to achieve a more equitable distribution of costs by having transit users and taxpayers share the costs of operating the transit system.  Passengers will realize a greater savings when purchasing a 20-ride pass, a sheet of 10 tickets, or monthly passes.
