Improvements to Golf Links Road/Junot Avenue from the Harbour Expressway north to Walkover Street

Notice of Completion of Environmental Study Report

The City has completed the preliminary design for improvements to the Golf Links Road/Junot Avenue corridor between the Harbour Expressway and Walkover Street. The City is proposing to complete the following improvements in a number of stages:

  • Widening the corridor to accommodate 4 lanes;
  • Intersection improvements;
  • Municipal servicing;
  • Sidewalks and bike/recreational trails;
  • Beautification; and,
  • Street lighting.

The City has planned this project under Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment. The Environmental Study Report has been completed and this Notice is being placed in the public record for review. Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice, and the receipt of necessary approvals, the City intends to proceed with the design and construction of this project. The estimated cost to implement the project is in the order of $18,460,000 and will be completed in a number of stages.

Please provide written comment to the City Clerk by January 28, 2011. If concerns arise regarding this project, which cannot be resolved in discussion with the City, a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment make an order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act (referred to as a Part II Order), which addresses individual environmental assessments. Requests must be received by the Minister at the address below by January 28, 2011. A copy of the request must also be sent to the City Clerk. If there is no request received by January 28, 2011, the proposed plan will proceed to design and construction as presented in the Environmental Study Report.
