Public Meeting – Street & Highway Lane Closure

NOTICE to close a highway is given pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Act, 2001. At its regular meeting on Feb.10, 2009, commencing at 6:30 pm, the City Council of Thunder Bay will consider passing a by-law to close the following portions of highway:

The portions of street and lane allowances between John Street and Queen Street, described as Part of the 1 Foot Reserve, Block 26, Part of Henry Street (also known as Secord Street), Registered Plan 147, designated as Part 1 on Reference Plan 55R-12800 and Part of Lane, Block 26, Registered Plan 147, designated as Parts 2 & 3 on Reference Plan 55R-12800, containing an area of approximately 1,900 sq m/20,452.10 sq ft. Once closed, the portions of highway will be sold at appraised market value to the abutting property owner to facilitate a commercial development on the property.

A plan showing the location of these portions of highway, together with a copy of the by-law, may be obtained from the City Clerk (address shown below) during business hours.

Before it passes the by-law, the City will hear from any person (directly or by representative) who wishes to address this issue. If you wish to appear before the Council, or if you simply wish to submit written comments for Council’s consideration, please contact the City Clerk using the contact information below before 4 pm on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009.

Further notice is hereby given that on Monday, July 28, 2008, Council declared these portions of highway (once closed) surplus to the City's requirements.
