2008 Annual Report Now Available to Citizens

August 24, 2009 – The City of Thunder Bay’s second Annual Report is now available to the public.  The 2008 edition provides citizens with the opportunity to reflect on the City’s successes, challenges and opportunities in the last year.

“Our City Council, Senior Management Team, staff, our community partners and citizens are working hard to make our quality of life better in Thunder Bay,” said Mayor Lynn Peterson. “As Thunder Bay’s Mayor, I see the positive things we can all achieve working together.”

The 2008 Annual Report provides an opportunity to inform citizens of the actions taken over the last year toward achieving the priorities of the 2007 – 2010 Living Strategic Plan. As of today, 55 of the original 87 initiatives are complete or major phases are complete.

“Utilizing a strategic approach to building and managing the City, we are strengthening social, economic, environmental, and cultural skills within our organization and emphasizing that both as a community and as individuals, we contribute to our City’s success,” said Tim Commisso, City Manager.

The report has detailed information about City government's financial performance, as well as highlights of some achievements, including:
• Stronger, more diversified economy
• 2007-2010 Strategic Plan highlights
• Economic development efforts
• Environmental projects
• Improvements for citizens
• Financial statements
• Auditor’s report

The Report is available on the city’s website at: www.thunderbay.ca/City_Government/News_and_Strategic_Initiatives/2008_Annual_Report.htm
