Additional Attawapiskat Evacuees to Arrive in Thunder Bay

May 13, 2013 – A group of Stage 1 Attawapiskat Evacuees, currently being hosted in Greenestone, will be transferred to Thunder Bay later today.

Greenstone is currently housing close to 200 Stage 1 Attiwapiskat Evacuees, but does not have enough hotel capacity.

A definite number is not yet available, but the City is expecting less than 100. Thunder Bay currently has 155 Attawapiskat residents in the City.

Recreational activities including visits to the Canada Games Complex, bowling, arts and crafts and gymnasium games are being planned through the City's Recreation & Culture Division for the evacuees. Evacuees enjoyed a guided City Tour through Thunder Bay Transit on Sunday, which included visits to the Terry Fox Monument, Centennial Park, Hillcrest Park and Prince Arthur's Landing.
