Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality Issued

February 25, 2011 – The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce the release of the 2010 Drinking Water Quality Annual Report to consumers. The report confirms the delivery of high quality drinking water and contains information about the City of Thunder Bay water treatment and distribution system.

“Every minute of every day, water quality is monitored by certified operators and on-line instrumentation,” said Kerri Marshall, Manager Environment Division. “Our customers can have confidence in the quality of the drinking water produced from the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant and delivered through the distribution system.”

Under the provisions of Ontario regulation 170/03 all municipalities must ensure that a report is prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Environment for each calendar year. The regulations set out mandatory treatment requirements for facilities using surface water as a source. Water samples are taken and evaluated for all parameters that can impact water quality. Your water quality is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Drinking Water Quality Annual Report 2010 is available online on the City of Thunder Bay’s website at www.thunderbay.ca/water. Print copies can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, at all branches of Thunder Bay Public Libraries, Bare Point Water Treatment Plant or the Front Street Service Yard, 155 Front St.
