Aquatic Options Abound on Canada Day Weekend

June 28, 2013 – Beat the heat on the Canada Day Long Weekend with a splash in one of the City’s many aquatic attractions.

Several City water facilities will be open over the Canada Day weekend: Churchill Pool, Volunteer Pool, Prince Arthur’s Landing Splash Pad, Franklin Street Splash Pad, and the City’s outdoor beachfront swimming areas at Boulevard Lake, Chippewa Beach and Sandy Beach.

Also, with its yearly maintenance now complete, the Canada Games Complex Pool will reopen to the public this Saturday. The Pool will also be open on Canada Day from noon to 5 pm with the Thunderslide in operation from 1-5 pm.

Dease Pool, Widnal Pool and Heath Pool remain closed for maintenance and water conditioning. The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is scheduled to perform further water testing at the three facilities on Tuesday. The public will be informed when these pools are ready to open.
