Bluesfest Ticket Holders Ride Transit Free on Concert Date

July 3, 2013 – Bluesfest and Thunder Bay Transit have partnered to allow Bluesfest ticket holders to ride Transit for free. This initiative is intended not only to increase the number of concert goers, but to ease traffic congestion and parking, lower the event’s carbon footprint, help eliminate drinking and driving and introduce Transit to new passengers. Anywhere within the Transit’s service area ticket holders will be able to take free Transit for the full valid date of their Bluesfest ticket.

“Riding transit can reduce congestion and save on vehicle costs,” said Jon Hendel, Transit Planning & Marketing Analyst. “We hope this initiative will encourage citizens to give Transit a try while they enjoy one of Thunder Bay’s premier music festivals.”

A Bluesfest Park & Ride Shuttle has been added for the weekend that will operate between the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, Waterfront District Parkade and the Waterfront Terminal. Sunday Transit service has been extended until midnight to allow patrons to ride the bus home after Bluesfest ends on Sunday night.
