Book of Condolences Opened for the Passing of Former Mayor

February 15, 2012 – A Book of Condolences will be opened at City Hall today to allow community members to pay their respects to former Mayor Eleanor Joan (Dusty) Miller, who died on Tuesday at the age of 82.

Miller, the City of Thunder Bay’s first female mayor, served as Mayor from 1978 until 1980. Miller was a City Councillor from 1974 to 1978 and 1985 to 1991. She was actively involved in arts and culture, including helping to create the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, and she was a recipient of the Order of Ontario.

The flags at City Hall and City facilities will fly at half mast until after Miller’s funeral to recognize her contributions to Thunder Bay.

The Book of Condolences will be available for signing in the lobby of City Hall, 500 Donald St. East, starting this afternoon until after the funeral.
