Business Opportunities for Prince Arthur’s Landing

September 23, 2011 – The City of Thunder Bay is inviting Expressions of Interests from qualified firms / individuals to lease the restaurant space within the Water Garden Pavilion at Prince Arthur’s Landing.

The Water Garden Pavilion is the central building to the activity areas located at the base of Red River Road and the public portions of Marina Park as a whole.  The restaurant area, or Café or Clearing as it is currently called, features a minimum of 2,300 sq. ft. inside and an additional 1,000 sq. ft. on the adjacent patio.

“We are creating mixed-use areas that include a complementary blend of residences, commercial and retail space, and public spaces for all to enjoy,” said Greg Alexander, General Manager of Community Services. “There are some great opportunities for the private and non-profit sectors to get involved.”

The Water Garden Pavilion also provides washrooms, changing facilities and a warm-up room for the adjacent recreational activities including skating, a splash pad, skate boarding and boating.  A public exhibit space called Mariner’s Hall is linked to the proposed Café / Restaurant area with panoramic views of Lake Superior and Sleeping Giant.

This restaurant opportunity also complements the Waterfront District BIA entertainment district and provides an exceptional waterfront destination.  As well, the 120 unit Hotel, 104 Condominiums and proposed Market building will draw people to the park and Waterfront District throughout the year.

In the next few weeks, the City will also be inviting submissions from not-for-profit arts and cultural organizations requesting to lease space within the Baggage Building Arts Centre, as well as opportunities for businesses to offer seasonal rentals in the Pond Pavilion.
