Chamberlain Breakfast a Chance to Discuss Poverty Reduction

May 16, 2012 – Breakfast with Mark Chamberlain brought community leaders together to consider poverty reduction as a key strategy for building a more prosperous Thunder Bay.

Chamberlain shared lessons he learned as Chair of Hamilton’s Roundtable for Poverty Reduction during the group’s first five years. He discussed ways business and community leaders can work together to reduce poverty.

The Lakehead Social Planning Council has received funding from the City and the District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board to develop a Poverty Reduction Strategy in partnership with them, Poverty Free Thunder Bay and other community partners.

“Poverty reduction is a very important goal for the City of Thunder Bay,” said Councillor Ken Boshcoff, Acting Mayor. “One of the directions in the City’s 2011-2014 Strategic Plan is responding to community needs to support a high quality of life for all residents. We will do this by working with our partners to develop the Poverty Reduction Strategy for the benefit of everyone in our community.”
