Children’s Activities on Display This Saturday

April 8, 2008 - The City of Thunder Bay Recreation & Culture Division is proud to host the second Children's Activity Extravaganza on Saturday, April 12, from 10 am - 3 pm at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition (C.L.E.) Coliseum.

The Extravaganza showcases various recreation, sport, art and cultural activities offered in the community for children and youth from JK - Grade 6. 24 community groups offering opportunities such as soccer, football, swimming, hockey, baseball, golf, Girl Guides, Scouts, judo, arts, summer camps and much more are participating.

"The Children's Activity Extravaganza is a must for parents who are thinking of enrolling their children in an activity," says Paul Burke of the Recreation & Culture Division. "Local organizations will all be under one roof to show what they have to offer, talk with parents and kids and answer questions."

An entertainment stage will feature demonstrations and performances by Thunder Bay Judo Dojo, International Dance Academy, Thunder Bay International Baseball Association and Bounce Productions.  The Sports Dome and Soccerplex facilities located on the C.L.E. grounds will be open to the public as part of the Activity Extravaganza.

Admission to the Extravaganza is $2 per person. All proceeds will benefit P.R.O. Kids, the award-winning, made-in-Thunder Bay program that matches youth and children in need with community-based recreational activities.  The inaugural Extravaganza held in 2007 was a project of Leadership Thunder Bay and attracted more than 1,000 people.

The Recreation & Culture Division gratefully acknowledges the Chronicle-Journal's sponsorship of this event.
