City Hosts Aboriginal Festival at Sports Dome

November 13, 2009 – The City of Thunder Bay will be hosting the 2nd Annual Fall Feast on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Sports Dome from 12 pm to 8 pm. The event, which is free and open to the entire community, includes an inter-tribal Pow Wow, Metis fiddlers, hand-drum singers and Aboriginal crafters, artists and artisans.

There will also be a Festival of Services taking place from 12 pm to 6 pm which highlights Aboriginal, non-Aboriginal and City service providers who will share information about their organizations, services and programs that they provide.

“We could not have done this without the support of our partners The Sports Dome, Office of the Federal Interlocutor, Aboriginal Arts and Heritage Council, Aboriginal Inter-Agency Council and the Urban Aboriginal Advisory Council,” said Anna Gibbon, Aboriginal Liaison for the City of Thunder Bay. “We would like to thank these organizations for their hard work in making this feast possible.”

The schedule includes:

  • Opening of the Festival of Services, with traditional smudge and prayer: 12 pm
  • Call to drums and dancers: 3:30 pm
  • Grand Entry and Welcoming, and prayer for the Feast: 4:15 pm
