Council Meetings Aired by Live Video Stream in June

June 4, 2010 – The City of Thunder Bay will be conducting a one-month pilot of web casting City Council meetings beginning on June 7. Meetings will be available through a live video stream and archived shortly after at: www.thunderbay.ca/councillive.

"While a month is not long enough to properly measure the potential viewership, this pilot will allow us to gain experience and gauge the amount of time required to make the agenda items accessible and web ready," said John Hannam, City Clerk.

The City Council and Committee of the Whole meetings that will be available take place on Monday June 7, 14, 21 and 28.

The results of the pilot will be shared with Council’s Community Communications Committee in September, along with a resolution regarding the feasibility of live streaming meetings on a regular basis.

All meetings are held in Council Chambers at City Hall, 500 Donald Street East, at 6:30 pm, are open to the public, air live on Shaw TV Cable 10, and for the month of June, on the City’s website. City Council and Administration welcome citizen input on the issues that concern residents and organizations in Thunder Bay.

Residents and businesses can arrange to have a letter included in an agenda or to make a presentation to a committee by writing to the City Clerk, City Hall, P.O. Box 800, Thunder Bay, ON P7C 5K4.
