County Park Splash Pad Officially Opens

July 5, 2013 – Thunder Bay’s newest Splash Pad is officially open.

The new facility, located in County Park near County Boulevard and Perth Crescent, is the City’s third Splash Pad. It features two ‘bays,’ each of which is designed to appeal to a different age group.

The Splash Pad includes:

The Toddler Bay
An approachable area that contains softer water effects, including elements with names such as Aqua Dome, Tot Twister, Tot Mister and Water Jelly.

The Family Bay
A large space that contains more interactive and combined types of play opportunities including elements with names like Orbit, Rooster Tail, Water tunnel, Jet Stream and Spidey Spray.

The new Splash Pad’s water features are timed, shutting off after a set period of inactivity to conserve water. They also have low-flow fixtures to minimize the amount of waste water generated.

“We’re excited to see the new Splash Pad open,” said Mayor Keith Hobbs. “It’s wonderfully-designed, and features something for everyone looking to keep cool during the hot summer months.”

The new Splash Pad will be open daily from 11 am to 8 pm throughout the summer.
