DRC Given Green Light to Re-adjust Files With New Rebuild Costs

May 28, 2013 – The Thunder Bay and Area Disaster Relief Committee (DRC) is pleased to announce that in discussion with the Province of Ontario, files were re-adjusted to include an increase in some of the rebuild costs. The Disaster Relief office is working diligently to re-adjust files using the new numbers.

The DRC has been working with the Province of Ontario to examine ways to increase funds to those affected by the flood that occurred one year today.

“On behalf of the DRC, I would like to thank the provincial government for working with us to try and find a way to help those affected by the flood,” said Wayne Fletcher, Chair, DRC. “As we processed the claims for rebuild costs, it became apparent that there was a discrepancy in terms of estimates to repair damages in Thunder Bay. We worked with the province to make the necessary adjustments to reflect a more accurate costing in Northwestern Ontario,” added Fletcher.

The Disaster Relief Office is making every effort to have the files re-adjusted and final payments mailed out by the end of June.
