Deadline for Registering with Safe Homes is August 10

July 19, 2012 – The Disaster Relief Committee (DRC) is urging those affected by the flood who have no insurance and still require help with clean-up and damage assessments to register with the Safe Homes program, which will expire on August 10.

“About 400 homes have registered with the Safe Homes program, but there are still residents whose houses have been damaged by flooding, and they are running out of time to register,” said Wayne Fletcher, Chair of the DRC. “We want to make sure that no one is left behind.”

The Safe Homes program provides help with basement inspections and clean-up, and if required, replacement of damaged hot water tanks and furnaces.

Residents that have registered with Safe Homes but have not yet had someone contact them to schedule an inspection should contact Mari-Lou Jorgenson, the Safe Home Program Coordinator. She can be reached at 684-2685.
