Fire Fighters set to ‘Rock the Fire House' for Disaster Relief Fund

October 12, 2012 – The Thunder Bay and Area Disaster Relief Committee is thrilled to announce a fundraising initiative in partnership with the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association and Thunder Bay’s Rock 94 radio station. ‘Rock the Fire House’ will have Thunder Bay in party mode on Nov. 17 at the Coliseum on the CLE grounds.

“Immediately following the flood, a number of fire fighters helped those affected with cleaning the destruction,” said professional fire fighter, Brant Kiessig. “To see first-hand the loss and damage that people suffered was really moving, and we wanted to find a way to help people get back on their feet and replace some of the items they lost.”

The Disaster Relief Committee will assist community groups or organizations interested in holding events in support of the Disaster Relief Fund.

“We were thrilled when the fire fighters approached our committee interested in organizing an event”, said Wayne Fletcher Chair of the Disaster Relief Committee. “This is the type of event that many in the community have been asking for. There will be a lot of dancing, a lot of prizes and I guarantee, a lot of fun.”

Tickets are $20 each and are available at all Thunder Bay Fire Stations, through the DRC and at the Disaster Relief Office, 401 East Donald Street.

Through the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program, every dollar raised is matched up to 2:1 - $1 becomes $3.
