Make Time to Play this Family Day!


February 17, 2010 – The Parks Division and the Recreation & Culture Division encourage everyone to get active and enjoy the many recreational opportunities being offered on the Family Day holiday Monday, Feb. 21.

“Family Day is the perfect opportunity to make time to play,” said Paul Fayrick, Manager – Parks Division. “There is a variety of free or low-cost activities for the whole family. We invite everyone to enjoy Thunder Bay’s many rinks, parks, pools, and facilities across the City to make it a fun and active Family Day.”

Supervised outdoor rink sites will be open from 1– 9 pm (weather-permitting) at:

Brent Park              James Street                Carrick
Wayland Current River West Thunder
Oliver Road Chapples North End
Charry Park Volunteer Pool  Tarbutt
West End

 

Families can enjoy tobogganing at Centennial Park or walk the trails of Boulevard Lake Park to see the newest installations of public art by local artists.

Public/Family Recreational Swims will be held at Sir Winston Churchill Community Pool and Volunteer Pool from 1– 4 pm. Regular admission rates apply. The Canada Games Complex is also hosting a Public/Family Recreational Swim from 12 – 5 pm. Use of the Thunderslide is included with the price of regular admission for Family Day.

North McIntyre Recreation Centre, located at 2051 Government Road, is hosting a ‘Family Fun Day’ from 9 am – 4 pm with a Pancake Breakfast, skating, crafts, and many other games and activities. A Family Skate is also being held at South Neebing Community Centre.
