City Government Launches Submission Galleries

September 25, 2008 - submissions can now be viewed on Facebook, the second largest social network on the Web with around 60 million members, as well, a selection may be viewed on the website. Viewers will be able to experience the great things about Thunder Bay through a dynamic collection of photographs, videos and stories.

The City of Thunder Bay launched, a collective storytelling portal in the spring of 2008. The site is a destination for personal and business stories to aid in conveying the brand story about Thunder Bay. has received hundreds of photograph and story contributions since it launched. Both residents and former residents have made submissions and a selection may now be viewed online. The gallery of images and stories will be continually reinvigorated as more submissions come in.

To complement the success of, a Facebook group was launched in June 2008. Facebook is a free-access social networking website where members can connect and interact with other people from all over the world. The Facebook group has over 245 members. Facebook applications such as a member directory, a Wall and Discussion Board for posting comments and stories, and Photos where users can upload unlimited albums and photos support the spirit of to create a dialogue about Thunder Bay. is a collaboration between the City of Thunder Bay's Corporate Communications & Strategic Initiatives, the Tourism Division, and the Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) to encourage people to `Put Yourself In Your City'.
