New Sign Lights Up Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre

April 30, 2008 - Mayor Lynn Peterson joined members of the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre Board of Directors to officially light up the Centre's new road-side sign at a special ceremony this morning.

The Board of Directors has been planning and fundraising for this permanent sign since 2001. The sign will be used to promote the Centre's activities, programs and special events. The new sign was funded entirely through the Board's fund raising activities.

On behalf of City Council, I am pleased to recognize and salute the continued efforts of the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre Board of Directors and all involved in the development of this attractive new sign, said Mayor Lynn Peterson. It's in keeping with the City's beautification efforts and I am sure the sign, which was made possible by the Board's fund raising efforts, will prove to be a valuable asset.

Board volunteers, staff and local firm Kuch Stephenson Gibson Malo, Architects and Engineers worked together on designs to create an eye-catching sign and new 55 Plus Centre logo to draw attention to the Centre. Construction on the sign began in November 2007.

Board members are very hopeful that passers-by will see something of interest and join us at the Centre, said President John Duncanson. The wide variety of programs and services we offer has something for everyone!
