On-line Waste Collection Reminder Service Launched

April 12, 2012 – The City of Thunder Bay is offering residents a new, free service that sends an email reminding residents that their garbage and recycling day is coming up.

The Recollect Garbage and Recycling Collection Reminder Service is easy to use and the reminders are provided at no cost to residents. A Recollect account can be set up as an email or Tweet that will arrive when the resident chooses – the night before or the day of collection. The reminder lets residents know whether the collection is for garbage only or garbage and recycling as well.

The service also notifies residents of special programs and collections, like the spring and fall leaf and yard waste collections. When collection dates change because of statutory holidays such as Good Friday, residents who register will be the first to know.

“The reminder service is simple to set up. Residents can sign up for the reminders, download a waste collection calendar and find links to useful recycling information, all in one place,” said Brad Adams, Manager Roads Division. “Residents just type in their address and then they will never miss a collection day again.”

Residents can visit to register or call Infrastructure & Operations Dispatch at 625-2195 for more information.
