Online Open House Available for Proposed Event Centre

April 12, 2012 – As a follow-up to Wednesday’s Open House & Information Session on the proposed Event Centre, which attracted more than 300 people, an Online Open House is now available at www.thunderbay.ca/eventcentre.

The consultants’ presentation, presentation boards, the handout, questionnaire and links to video of the sessions are all available.

Conrad Boychuk, Consulting Team Lead from CEI Architecture was pleased with the participation at the Open House: “The comments and questions demonstrated a higher level of understanding of the project and, where individuals advocated for a particular site, they made their position known in an insightful way. The fact that we continue to see a good turnout shows a real interest in the process.”

To further improve engagement, the Online Open House is available until Monday, April 30. Residents are encouraged to view the latest materials and fill out the questionnaire.

At this stage of the Phase 2 feasibility study, the Consulting Team is presenting refined concept designs for the three sites identified by the City of Thunder Bay (Innova Business Park, Downtown/Waterfront and Thunder Bay International Airport), providing information on the economic impact on the region, and information on vehicular site access and parking.

The Consulting Team will recommend a preferred site to City Council on May 28 followed by a final Open House on Wednesday, June 6, at Fort William Gardens.

The Open House was also streamed online through Ustream, TBNewswatch.com and NetNewsLedger with questions taken through the City’s twitter account @CityThunderBay.
