Ontario Chiefs of Police Have New First VP

June 30, 2009 - Robert P. Herman, Chief of Police of the Thunder Bay Police Service has been elected to serve as First Vice President of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.  The O.A.C.P. is a professional organization representing Police leaders in the Province of Ontario.  Members of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police serve their communities as the senior police leaders in municipal, regional, provincial, national, and First Nations police services across Ontario.  The O.A.C.P. defines critical policing issues and develops sound and constructive positions to assume an advocacy role in partnership with the community.

Chief Herman has held a number of positions within the O.A.C.P. during his career.  His new role as First Vice President creates an opportunity to work with the President, Executive and Board of Directors to represent small to large police services in matters of public safety and the protection of our communities.  As well, Chief Herman will be able to represent the issues of both Northern and First Nation policing interests. 

Following his tenure as First Vice President, Chief Herman will serve as the President of the Ontario Association of Chief’s of Police from June of 2010 to June of 2011.
