Popular Tradition for Kids and Teddy Bears Set for Next Week

July 5, 2011 – The City of Thunder Bay will be holding the 28th Annual Teddy Bears Picnic on Tuesday, July 12 at Vickers Park.

Children, parents and teddy bears are invited for an afternoon of free crafts, activities and entertainment featuring Canada’s 2011 Favourite Children’s Artist of the Year Andrew Queen, and local entertainers Grumpy Grandpas.

“The Teddy Bears Picnic is a popular tradition in Thunder Bay for kids and their teddy bears,” said Kayla Berst, Festival and Events Coordinator. “Hosting the event in beautiful Vickers Park gives families and friends the chance to come together to dance, sing, and take part in various activities.”

The Picnic will begin at 12 noon, and run until 3 pm. Highlights of the day include a Teddy Bear Parade, where children are invited to join in a sing along while they parade around the park with their teddy bears. The Boo Bear Station will be open again for much loved teddy bears to receive a band-aid or stitching to make them feel brand new again.
