Portion of McVicar Creek Recreation Trail Closed for Work

August 6, 2010 – As part of the City-wide Recreation Trail Rehabilitation Project, work is expected to begin on Monday on re-aligning and reconstruction of the recreational trail along the McVicar Creek between Madeline Street and Hinton Avenue.

This section of trail will be relocated further from the river bank to improve the trail sub-base structure and provide increased opportunity for natural habitat along the river’s edge. In addition, the trail will have its alignment changed to increase safety for the multiple uses this trail receives. The scope of work involves tree cutting, base excavation, placement of geotextile, granular and asphalt material for the new alignment.

Be advised that work is scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 9, and continue for two to three weeks. During this time, the trail will be closed to all travel to ensure the safety of the public and the contractor working on site with heavy equipment. Please respect the closure.

An alternate route to this section of recreation trail would be to use Blanchard Street between Madeline Street and Hinton Avenue.
