Spring Kraft Leaf & Yard Waste Bag Giveaway

April 16, 2012 – The City of Thunder Bay is encouraging residents to consider the environment when raking the yard this spring.

Look for a coupon in the April/May issue of MyTBay redeemable for two free Kraft leaf and yard waste collection bags. Kraft bags are better for the environment because they are biodegradable  and can be placed directly into the compost pile along with the leaves at the Solid Waste & Recycling Facility on Mapleward Road. Yard waste delivered to the compost area in plastic bags requires debagging before it can be processed.

The coupon, found on page 9 of the latest edition of MyTBay, can be redeemed at the following locations:

  • Victoriaville Centre - 111 Syndicate Ave. S., (a table will be set up beside the Cashiers Office), Wednesday April 18 from 9 am to 12 noon.
  • Thunder Bay Public Library - Waverley Resource Library – 285 Red River Rd., Friday, April 20 from 10 am to 12 noon.
  • Thunder Bay Public Library - Mary J.L. Black Branch Library - 901 S. Edward St., Friday, April 20 from 1:30 pm to 4 pm.

Bring your waste diversion and recycling questions to those locations and staff will be happy to provide assistance.
