Superior Youth Festival 2011 Lineup Announced

August 10, 2011 – The Recreation & Culture Division has announced the lineup for the 2011 edition of the Superior Youth Festival.  Started in 2007, the Superior Youth Festival was created as a support for youth music, art and culture by featuring local and regional musical acts, as well as headlining performances by national touring artists.

This outdoor concert will feature new acts, as well as some crowd favourites. The festival takes place at Marina Park on the Main Stage under the band-shell on Wednesday, August 24th from 6 pm to 10 pm. Admission is free for all ages.

“We’re now in our 5th year,” said Jean-Paul De Roover, Summer Festivals & Events Coordinator, “and very excited once again to host this youth-centered event. It’s important to have a festival that reflects the interests of our young population, and we hope to see it grow in the future. This year, we worked closely with our Advisory Committee to bring a total of 6 acts of various styles and genres to the stage.”

The stage will come to life on August 24th with performances by local acts such as Maraday Park, Drive, CoNcEpTs, Down Converter and Trevor Potts. Headlining the festival will be The Sheepdogs from Saskatoon, SK. These four southern soul rockers are on the cusp of greatness having been featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in their August issue, not to mention a Canadian tour in the Fall with Kings of Leon.

In addition to great new music, the Superior Youth Festival also offers different activities provided by Youth Zone, free draws, a variety of on-site concessions and an artisan market.

There will be no general parking around the festival area but limited accessible parking will be available inside the park with a valid permit.
