Taking the First Bight: Local Restaurant Taps Waterfront Development

October 3, 2012 – Located within the beautiful Water Garden Pavilion at Prince Arthur’s Landing, Marina Park, bight Restaurant & Bar will be a full-service, fully-licensed establishment offering seating for 90 in the main restaurant, 45 on the seasonal patio, and cocktail or reception services for an additional 60 people in the adjacent Mariner’s Hall.

Local restaurateur Bianca Garofalo, along with an ensemble team of talented partners and Executive Chef Christopher Groenheide, has designed a casual, contemporary restaurant space featuring a forward-thinking menu that encompasses traditional favourites, local sustainability and global fusion. This philosophy is carried into bight’s beverage-program, as beers, wines and cocktails have been hand-selected by a team headed up by in-house Sommelier Jeannie Dubois. bight will be open daily for lunch and dinner catering to our local clientele year-round.

The much-anticipated opening is to take place prior to Christmas of this year.

“We are excited to provide Thunder Bay with a new restaurant experience and to be the first full-service operation located within Prince Arthur’s Landing,” said owner and General Manager Bianca Garofalo. “The definition of bight is “a bend or curve in the line between land and water” which we think is very appropriate considering its stunning location.

Our vision for bight is to utilize the majestic scenery of the waterfront and showcase the world-class urban development that has occurred at Prince Arthur’s Landing. We wish to develop tourism partnerships aimed at promoting the area and our community.”

A concession service will also provide park goers with quick-service options while they utilize the many outdoor attractions such as splash-pad, skating rink, skateboard plaza and walking paths. Concession availability is expected to coincide with the opening of the skating rink in mid-November.

bight will create approximately 35 new jobs. The establishment will be holding a job fair at the location on Saturday, Oct. 13 from noon – 3 pm and on Monday, Oct. 15 from 6 – 9 pm.
