Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters “Rocked the Fire House” in Support of the Disaster Relief Fund

December 11, 2012 – Members of the Thunder Bay & Area Disaster Relief Committee (DRC) stopped by the Vickers Street fire station today to accept a donation from the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association.

A cheque for $15,902.60 was represented by fire fighter Brant Kiessig. The money was the result of proceeds from the Rock the Fire House fundraiser held this past November.

“We enjoyed planning Rock the Fire House,” said professional fire fighter, Brant Kiessig. “We wanted an event that would be fun for the community and provide an opportunity to assist those affected by the flood.”

“This contribution is most appreciated” said Wayne Fletcher, Chair, DRC. “Every dollar will make an impact on what is raised to assist our neighbours who are still recovering from the flood” pointing out that when matched with provincial dollars, the donation equals $47,707.80.

The DRC will continue its fundraising efforts until Jan. 31, 2013.

Every dollar the DRC raises, the Province of Ontario will match by two - $1 becomes $3.
