Thunder Bay Transit Helps Santa Collect for Those in Need

December 2, 2010 – Thunder Bay Transit, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966, the Thunder Bay Food Bank and the United Way are teaming up to spread goodwill in our community with the 16th Annual Santa Bus campaign.

From Monday, Dec. 6 until Friday, Dec 10, our community is invited to drop off dry goods for the Thunder Bay Food Bank on any City bus before 8 pm. To find out when a bus is coming to a stop near you, go to www.nextbus.com or call 684-3744.

Also on Friday, Dec. 10, the Santa Bus will be traveling throughout Thunder Bay. Santa Claus has taken time out of his busy schedule to join Thunder Bay Transit to greet passengers and spread cheer in our community. Santa will be on most routes throughout the day. A detailed schedule will be published on Saturday, Dec. 4. All fares and donations placed in the Santa Bus will be donated to the United Way. Everyone is invited to come and greet Santa and his helper who will be handing out candy canes to children.

Santa Bus, in support of the Thunder Bay Food Bank and United Way, is an opportunity for Transit employees to join the public to bring joy and happiness to others this holiday season.

Thunder Bay Food Bank supplies emergency help to people in need, and when possible, helps other organizations with food supply.  The need is always greater in the winter and especially over the holidays.

United Way of Thunder Bay works locally to change living conditions for the better by supporting local agencies.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966 and Thunder Bay Transit have served the community of Thunder Bay with safe, reliable, economical, and eco-friendly Transit service for 118 years.
