Transit Bike Racks Come Off for Winter

Event date: Wednesday, October 28, 2009, from 11:01 AM to 11:01 AM

October 28, 2009 – Thunder Bay Transit’s bike racks will be removed from all buses for the winter on Nov. 15. The racks are scheduled to be reinstalled in mid April.

“The racks are being removed to prevent damage from snow and other road debris during the winter months,” said David Stephens, Planning & Marketing Analyst. “This first season saw an average of over one thousand bikes per month using the Thunder Bay Transit bike racks. This customer service initiative has achieved greater success than even we had hoped for.”

Lower usage of bike racks during the winter months warrants their removal and will ensure that the racks have a longer life span than if left on the buses all winter.
