Transit Partners with Bluesfest for Free Rides

July 7, 2011 – Bluesfest 2011, together with Thunder Bay Transit, will be offering ticket holders the opportunity to use City Transit for free during the full, valid date of their ticket.

This initiative is intended not only to increase the number of concert goers, but to ease traffic congestion and parking, lower the event’s carbon footprint, help eliminate drinking and driving, and to introduce transit to new passengers.

“We are encouraging people to use transit and save on vehicle costs,” says Jon Hendel, Transit Planning & Marketing Analyst.  “We hope this initiative will encourage citizens, no matter where they live in the service area, to give Transit a try while they enjoy one of Thunder Bay’s premier music festivals.”

An Express Bus for the event has been added that will run from City Hall to the Water Street Terminal. Transit Sunday service has also been extended to mirror the usual weekday service hours, giving passengers the opportunity to ride the bus home after Bluesfest ends on Sunday night.
