Transit and Bluesfest Partner with Ticket-to-Ride Program

July 4, 2012 – For the second year, Bluesfest and Thunder Bay Transit have partnered to allow Bluesfest ticket holders to ride Transit for free.

This program is intended to increase the number of concert goers, ease traffic congestion and parking, lower the event’s carbon footprint, help eliminate drinking and driving, and to introduce Transit to new passengers. No matter where someone lives in Transit’s service area, ticket holders are able to take Transit for the full valid date of their Bluesfest 2012 ticket.

“Riding transit can reduce congestion and save on vehicle costs,” says Jon Hendel, Transit Planning & Marketing Analyst.  “We hope this initiative will encourage citizens to give Transit a try while they enjoy one of Thunder Bay’s premier music festivals.”

Thunder Bay Transit and Bluesfest are also offering Park ‘n’ Ride opportunities at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium and the Waterfront Parkade with the #2 Crosstown and Bluesfest Parking Shuttle. Transit Sunday service has been extended to mirror the usual weekday service hours to give everyone the opportunity to ride the bus home after Bluesfest ends on Sunday night.
