Trowbridge Falls Pedestrian Bridge Closure

July 22, 2010 – The Parks Division has closed the Trowbridge Falls Pedestrian Bridge due to safety issues.  An engineering review found significant problems and to ensure the safety of the public, the bridge has been closed until repairs can be completed.

The Parks Division will be submitting a request for funding for this project in the 2011 Capital Budget.  The repairs will go out for tender immediately following budget approval and it is expected that the bridge will be reopened in time for summer 2011.

Fences have been placed on the bridge and signage installed both at the bridge and on trail entrances in Centennial Park to advise park users of the closure.  Access to the river for campers and the public from Trowbridge Falls Park has not been affected.  Campers wishing to use the hiking / mountain biking trails can access them from the campground via an alternate route which crosses the main channel of the Current River and the North Branch using the former snowmobile trail.
