ON THE WATERFRONT - THE VIEWING CIRCLE PROVIDES SPECTACULAR VIEWS TO THE SLEEPING GIANT

Prince Arthur’s Landing transforms the three Piers as centres for both public and boating activities. The landscape design of each Pier will incorporate tree-lined walkways, overlooks and garden areas that include open meadows and boreal forest planting, with each having its own distinct ‘destination’. The end of Pier Two features a raised landscaped disk called ‘The Viewing Circle’, where sweeping views of the Sleeping Giant create a powerful space for repose and contemplation.

Celebrating the strong regional culture and heritage of the Thunder Bay area, the Viewing Circle will incorporate poetry by Aboriginal poet Linda Jaine: “Round Dance. Don’t’ break this circle, before the song is over, because all of our people, even the ones long gone, are holding hands.” (1974).
